The Archos MP3 Players - The Greatest of Its Breed

Portable media devices for music and videos are all the craze these days, and the Apple iPod is the definite leader in terms of market share and unit sales. That being said however, doesn't insinuate that it is the only iPod on the marketplace that's good. There are quite a lot of excellent alternatives to the ubiquitous Apple label that are equivalent not only in features but also in quality and cost. Take the latest Gen 5 line up of the Archos mp3 players as an example. For the quality and the price of this device it gets my highest vote. I purchased the 80GB 605 Wifi model a few months ago and am utterly confident that I made the right choice in ditching my iPod.

There are many things that divide Archos MP3 players from the rest of the pack. Just love all of the other MP3 players it plays music, but with the 80 GB of storage that provides I have been able to put every album that I own onto it and still have plenty of room to spare. Many digital file types are supported, including .mp3, .wav, and .wma (protected or not). It is a really nice feature because it means that I don't have to wait around for conversion software in order to download my songs. Features like this make it a much more versatile and convenient player than many other brands.

The Gen 5 line is much more than a simple music player though. Archos MP3 players have a superb 4.3-inch full-color touchscreen that can be activated with the touch of a finger or the included stylus, making navigation through the various menus a simple task. The brilliant quality of the display makes it perfect for watching TV shows, streaming YouTube videos, or even watching movies. It yields an amazingly sharp picture that is plainly visible in all kinds of lighting. I've seen people trying to watch stuff on their tiny iPod screens, and I just have to shake my head in sympathy. The Archos MP3 player is a lot better choice than the smaller iPod so there's no reason to put yourself through the misery of that situation.

What I like most about Archos MP3 players is the way I can deal with all of my content without having to be tied to a laptop. Because of the wifi connection, I'm able to download songs, movies, and other videos on the go. The Archos player also has the Opera Web browser included into it which makes it very simple to surf the net, check my e-mail, and do all of the gameplaying that I want wherever I'm at. This isn't something that's possible with many of the other players out there. Most of the other brands leave you stuck in the mud when you're not at a PC and you can't do an update until you are.

If you're honestly considering the purchase of a portable media player, stand out from the group and make the investment into something that's a lot better than the name brand iPod. I beyond doubt endorse giving the Gen 5 Archos MP3 player a spin. They are a lot more sophisticated technologically and they have better prices than all of the rivalry. Receiving more for less... isn't that what smart shopping is all about?
